Drayton Valley RCMP Report: December 3 – December 10

December 3

8:35 am – Parkland County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 514 – Complainant reported a newer BMW, dark in colour, speeding. Patrols made, vehicle not located.

9:03 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 39/RR63 – Complainant reported a dead animal on the highway with a dog scavenging the carcass. Member attended and located a dead deer in the ditch, no dog around.

9:19 am – Brazeau County – Cynthia – Complainant reported buying a vehicle and she now believes the odometer has been changed and the frame has been altered. Under investigation.

9:40 am – Brazeau County/Elk River Rd area – Complainant reported a lease site broken into and numerous items stolen overnight. Under investigation.

10:36 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported an abandoned Range Rover off of Hwy 759, appeared to have hit a deer. Member attended, vehicle not reported stolen but also unregistered. Vehicle towed, under investigation.

10:39 am – Drayton Valley – Ring Road – Complainant reported a male known to her had been on her property at 4 am. Male may have been in contact with person who was positive for COVID-19. Male has belongings stored on complainant’s property. Member investigated, determined the male hadn’t been in close contact with anyone positive and assisted in arranging for the male to retrieve his property.

10:46 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complaint of harassment, ex reportedly following new partner around town. All parties spoken to, no charges.

11:06 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Request received to serve a witness subpoena.

11:36 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Members requested to assist with a structure fire. Assistance provided, fire not believed to be suspicious.

1:16 pm – Brazeau County – RR82 – Complainant reported another vehicle backed into hers in a driveway.

2:25 pm – Brazeau County – Saskatchewan Corrections advised a male will be on a temporary absence permit and residing in the area. Male will have conditions and regular reporting requirements, not believed to be a risk to public safety.

4:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complaint received of attempted blackmail via Facebook. Local male friended two persons, conversed and exchanged intimate pictures. Suspects are now demanding money. Advice and direction were provided. Unfortunately, most such profiles are fake for this common scam and investigative avenues are limited. Police recommend not accepting random friend requests and to also not send intimate images.

4:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complaint received that a “formed” mental health patient who was to be transported to Ponoka had left the hospital. The female patient was located later in the evening and transported to Ponoka.

4:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that sometime over the past 12 hours his 2003 blue Ford Explorer with Alberta plate CHJ5117 was stolen. Under investigation.

6:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported her ex drove through the lane by her apartment, possibly breaching a court order. Complainant also requested police check on her dog. Insufficient evidence for a charge.

6:57 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reported a suspicious truck often seen parked at the cemetery. Member investigated and spoke to the driver, determined situation not suspicious.

8:04 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant reported the location of the female who had left the hospital earlier (see 4:17 pm). Member attended and located the female who was returned to the hospital and transported to Ponoka.

11:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Member observed a suspicious vehicle behind Canadian Tire. Male and female in vehicle, male found to be on no-contact conditions with the female and charged accordingly.

December 4

3:00 am – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported seeing two males smash windows on a vehicle in an apartment parking lot, then leave headed north on foot. Member attended the area, suspects not located. Under investigation.

10:03 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an iPad was stolen from a truck parked at Lakeview Inn and suites. iPad has since been reactivated and is in Edmonton.

11:51 am – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Request to assist town Peace Officer who located a suspicious, possibly stolen vehicle. Member contacted Peace Officer and advised police were aware of the vehicle and it is not stolen.

12:14 pm – Drayton Valley – Urgent request received to serve a subpoena on a male for Court in Edmonton in December. Subpoena served as requested.

1:44 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39/Hwy 759 – Complainant reported hitting a moose. Complainant will attend in Leduc to complete collision reporting requirements.

2:06 pm – Brazeau County –Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reports hitting a deer on November 30, significant damage to vehicle.

3:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Delivery driver reported being assaulted by persons at a residence while delivering a package. Member determined the suspects may have believed they were being scammed as there was a duty to be paid. Under investigation.

5:40 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend was calling and saying he was going to commit suicide. Members attended and with assistance of Police Dog Services the male was located in his truck in a field. Members arrested the male under the Mental Health Act and he was subsequently transported to an appropriate facility for treatment.

9:17 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male hadn’t been paying his hotel bill and was refusing to leave. Member attended and determined the male left once he was aware police were called.

10:13 pm – Drayton Valley – Frank Maddock High School – Anonymous complainant reported a white Dodge, a black Suburban, and a blue Ford truck “drifting” in the school parking lot. Member patrolled the area but the vehicles weren’t located.

11:57 pm – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Security for an oilfield company reported a beak and enter in progress at a site north of Cynthia. Members attended and with assistance from Police Dog Services three suspects were arrested. A 49-year-old male, a 53-year-old male, and a 41-year-old female all from Edson were arrested and later released to appear in court at a later date.

December 5

3:08 am – Drayton Valley – 38 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious male on a bicycle. Male is carrying a backpack. Patrols made in area, male not located.

5:27 am – Drayton Valley – Member assisted Edmonton Police Service with a next of kin notification.

9:00 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members attended a hotel to remove an unwanted guest, guest removed. Related to event reported December 4 at 9:17 pm.

9:33 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a break and enter to a lease site. Several items were located which matched items taken from a seized truck that had been located at the scene of another break and enter to a lease site. Several individuals located and arrested with the assistance of the police dog services.

11:32 am – Drayton Valley – 56A St – Complainant reported someone digging under a fence in the alley behind his residence. Member attended and determined a female had been picking bottles.

1:21 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a turquoise Pontiac driving erratically. Member located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Driver sober, reported that he had given a universal one-finger salute to a truck that had passed him which may have resulted in the call.

3:59 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complaint received regarding a resident of a care home being rude to staff and making threats to “take them to court.” Under investigation.

9:53 pm – Brazeau County – RR 84 – Complainant reported a suspicious newer pickup had turned around in her driveway and then went onto an adjacent lease site and turned off its lights. Member attended, truck gone. No indication of anything criminal.

December 6

3:14 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported a vehicle parked by Aurora School playing loud music. Member attended but the truck had left.

9:16 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reporting they abandoned their grey 2013 VW Golf. Complainant was having medical issues.

12:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Complainant reporting tenants will not remove their items from the residence after being evicted. Landlord-tenant dispute. Civil in nature.

12:17 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting three males around the gas station last night, one with a bat.

4:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a male is laying in the ATM lobby. Member attended and located known male and female. Both left when requested to.

8:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant requesting the removal of 4-5 persons who are sitting outside a business. Complainant is trying to get inside. Member attended, the persons are waiting for the MAT program to open up.

10:17 pm – 46 Street – Complainant reporting they caught a female in their garage which was unlocked. Female took off. Members attended and patrolled the area. One female located in area, however complainant unable to identify.

December 7

3:02 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant requesting patrols. 2 trucks are on the west end of the parking lot and have been there for approximately 20 minutes. Members attended, vehicles had left.

8:45 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male in a dark jacket is attempting to steal a bike. Member attended and located known male. Male was trying to cut the lock on the bike. Determined that the bike belonged to the male.

1:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on male. Members attended and spoke with male who was fine.

2:15 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant advised they were travelling on Hwy 22 when a deer came out of the ditch and collided with their vehicle.

5:57 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting their vehicles would be damaged by known male and female.

6:01 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting vandalism to a loader. Members attended, landlord-tenant dispute.

7:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Center Court Trailer Court – Complainant called to report threats and assault. Members attended and spoke with complainant.

8:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting a disturbance. People outside are being loud and yelling. Members attended and located two known females who were not yelling. No noise.

10:38 pm – Drayton Valley – OCT – Complainant reporting an abandoned bike in the alley. Someone came and retrieved the bike prior to member’s arrival.

11:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting male is drunk and spat in their face then drove away in orange Dodge Neon. Members located vehicle. Driver arrested for impairment.

December 8

5:45 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an assault. Victim attended the hospital. Members attended, victim very uncooperative and would not provide any information, refused to speak with members.

9:36 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant requested members conduct a wellbeing check on worker who failed to show up for work. Member contacted individual who advised they had quit the job.

11:09 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting their debit card was fraudulently used at the TD Bank. A deposit was made and cash taken out.

11:36 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting their licence plate was stolen off their vehicle.

11:50 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting they observed 3 males taking boards off vacant residence. Members attended and spoke with the males who are contractors renovating the building.

3:05 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a possible intoxicated driver in a black SUV. Vehicle is all over the road. Member patrolled the area, vehicle not located, neighbouring detachments advised.

5:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting harassment through social media.

7:14 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a white Suburban passed them in the turning lane east of the North Sask Bridge. Member located Suburban and spoke with the driver who was apologetic and thought the turning lane was the passing lane as the road paint was not very visible.

December 9

10:36 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report received of a two-vehicle collision. No injuries. One vehicle failed to stop at red light and was issued a violation ticket.

12:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Request to conduct a wellbeing check on a family member who had been released from hospital on Sunday with COVID-19. Members were able to contact person who was fine.

1:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting a blue SUV drove through a 4-way stop. Member was in the area at the same time and made patrols, however vehicle not located.

1:05 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting threats uttered over social media between two students at HW Pickup.

4:45 pm – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Complainant reporting an overweight load. Member attended location, nothing out of ordinary.

5:59 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant reporting they received messages from an individual advising that they were going to break into their residence.

7:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on an individual. Members located individual walking. No issues.

December 10

5:54 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. White-ish coloured truck has been parked for the past 6 hours with 2 persons inside. Members attended location.
