Drayton Valley RCMP Report: October 8 – October 14

October 8

10:16 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious male in a black jacket with a hood is walking near the school with garden shears. Members attended location and patrolled the area with negative results.

11:59 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a suspicious truck came into their driveway with a trailer attached. When their motion light went off, the truck drove away. Vehicle is a dark blue Ford F-150.

12:04 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reporting a grey newer GMC truck came up behind them on the highway and started honking their horn and chasing them. Complainant pulled over to use their phone and the driver of the vehicle got out of the truck and tried to open the complainant’s door then drove off. Member left several messages on Registered Owners phone regarding their behaviour.

1:37 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a black GMC truck. Driver is speeding and passing on double solid line. Member attended area and made patrols, vehicle not located.

1:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for failing to stop.

2:33 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for speeding.

4:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Avenue – Complainant reporting suspicious person came onto their commercial property looking for cigarette butts. They left when requested to. Member was able to identify known male by description and advised the complainant they will speak with him.

7:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a warning for failing to use signal.

8:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant calling to report unattended radio playing music. Member attended and unplugged radio.

9:38 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reporting a green 4 door vehicle is swerving all over the road.

October 9

3:13 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting lights in the field behind them. Member attended, no one located. Yard light was on.

8:00 am – Parkland County – Complaintant reports a dark truck in his field. Suspect vehicle fled when complainant began checking his property.

9:14 am – Drayton Valley – 22 Avenue – Request to assist by-law officer with abandoned vehicle.

9:26 am – Tomahawk – Deer collision on Hwy 627, no injuries.

9:57 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Theft of Truck – Vehicle stolen from driveway.

10:33 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Traffic Stop – Driver issued warning for driving while holding communication device.

2:49 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd. – Collision with light standard – vehicle struck a street light, no injuries.

3:33 pm – Brazeau County – Report of a suicidal male, members attended location, located, and arrested male under Mental Heath Act.

7:56 pm – Brazeau County – Report of a deer blocking the northbound lane on Hwy 22. Member attended location, deer had moved off the Hwy.

8:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 50th Street – Report of suspicious people in the dumpster. Member attended location, found three people searching through the dumpster for lost treasures. Member had them clean up the mess they made.

9:12 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Report of an intoxicated male causing problems at the Drayton Valley Hotel, male located involved in another occurrence.

9:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a fight outside the 7-11, members attended location. One male seriously injured and transported to Edmonton hospital. Tyrone MERCREDI arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. MERCREDI held for bail hearing and released by Justice of the Peace on $2000.00 No Cash Bail for court on October 20, 2020.

11:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Traffic Stop – Driver issued violation ticket for Fail to Produce Operator’s Licence.

October 10

1:09 am – Tomahawk – 51st Street – Report of a suspicious vehicle with the alarm going off by complainant’s driveway. Members attended location. Vehicle belonged to neighbour.

2:46 am – Drayton Valley – 50th Street – Report that a vehicle has hit the Tim Horton’s building. Members attended location, driver exited vehicle without putting it in park. Vehicle jumped the curb and hit the building. No injuries.

7:10 am – Drayton Valley – 50th Street – Report of a possibly intoxicated driver at the Tim Horton’s parking lot. Member attended location. Mandatory Alcohol Screen conducted on driver. Driver provided a breath sample, zero alcohol detected.

7:12 am – Brazeau County – Break and Enter to Vermillion Energy plant office.

7:49 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Break and Enter to Obsidian lease site, $2500.00 worth of power tools stolen.

7:59 am – Cynthia – 53rd Avenue – Complainant reporting the theft of his truck, vehicle had two rifles, one shotgun, and ammunition in the vehicle.

8:21 am – Drayton Valley – 50th Street – Report of a domestic disturbance, complainant report a male and female arguing. Members attended location. The couple were located, no assault occurred, just arguing.

5:06 pm – Brazeau County – Request to assist EMS. Members attended location.

5:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 46th Street – Report of 3 dirt bikes driving up and down the ally. Patrols made of the area but no bikes located.

6:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 50th Street – Report of an impaired pizza delivery driver. Vehicle located, driver given the Mandatory Alcohol Screening demand. Result was a “Fail”. Driver’s licence seized and vehicle towed.

8:02 pm – Brazeau County – Stable Lane – Complainant reporting that the licence plate was stolen from his vehicle.

11:04 pm – Drayton Valley – Beckett Rd. – Traffic Stop – Driver issued a warning for failing to stop before entering intersection.

11:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 50th Street – Report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the Hillcrest Manor parking lot. Patrols made, vehicle not located.

October 11

2:20 am – Drayton Valley – 47th Avenue – 911 report that a male chased complainant. Members attended location. Foot patrols made on paths behind the Eldorado School, suspect not located.

1:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Shoplifting – Report that a male stole merchandise from the check out lines and ran out of the store. The suspect is described as Caucasian and wearing a mask (COVID-19). The suspect left in a red SUV. Ongoing investigation.

October 12

2:10 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – A homeless male is found in the lobby of a bank. Police attended and asked the male to leave. He did without further incidents.

10:15 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Theft from mailboxes – A report of mailbox thefts occurring along the ring road area. Police have worked with Canada Post, with such initiatives as mail tracking. RCMP are reminding everyone to get their mail daily.

3:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – 911 hang up – Police responded to a 911 hang up where children can be heard talking in the background. Members attended and there was no danger, just children playing with a phone.

4:01 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Report of male checking vehicles. Turned out that the male was actually extremely drowsy and was having a hard time walking. Members spoke with the male who had gone to his vehicle. He admitted to taking Tylenol 3. The vehicle was secured and the male was taken home.

5:38 pm – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Vandalism to mailbox – Thieves attempted to break into the mailbox when their efforts were dashed by a sturdy lock. Canada Post was made aware. Police attended but no evidence left behind for further investigation.

6:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Hit and run reported in the parking lot of Walmart. Driver of the other vehicle has been identified and will be contacted by police. Investigation is ongoing.

9:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Run away teen – Members spent the night trying to locate a teen who ran away from home. He was found at the skate park and a safe place was found for him. Child and family services assisted.

October 13

10:24 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Police responded to a female cutting the hedges back with a pocket knife. The female was well known to police. While the female may have mental health issues she is not a danger to the public. Members took the knife from the female. No offence was committed.

1:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Members attended the area for a wheelbarrow left on someone’s property. The wheelbarrow was picked up and is in lost and found.

2:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – A propane tank was stolen from a vehicle at the store. Police have identified a suspect and the investigation continues.

2:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Report of a stolen licence plate overnight. Plate was added to police database. File is still open.

3:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Attempted break and enter to the West Winds. A suspect was captured on video surveillance trying to break the door of the hotel. Police are reviewing the footage.

October 14

4:09 am – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Hit and run – Members responded to a hit and run in the back alley of 49 St. A black Dodge Ram backed into a Honda Prelude and drove off. No suspects were identified.

5:05 am – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Missing person – A female was reported missing after she lost contact with her mother. While members were searching for the female she was located. No further action was taken.

8:25 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – An abandoned motorcycle was located near the UFA. Police contacted the owner who abandoned the bike when it broke down in the snow. The bike was towed and the owner is aware.
