Two suspects have been charged with a multitude of offenses following a traffic stop in Ponoka on Oct. 1.

At 7:42 p.m. an RCMP officer conducting patrols in town stopped a GMC Sierra to conduct a check on the driver.

Mounties say the officer’s investigation led him to determine that the truck was reported as stolen. As a result, the male driver and female passenger were arrested for possession of stolen property.

A search of the truck revealed illegal and/or dangerous items including brass knuckles, bear spray, knives and break-in instruments. Also seized was a small amount of a substance believed to be heroin.

Tyler Blaine Stewart, 42, and Jessica Alison Gregorie are jointly charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property, and possession of break-in instruments.

Stewart is also charged with two counts of possession of a weapon when prohibited.

Gregorie was charged with six further offenses, including four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Both accused have been remanded to appear in Provincial Court in Ponoka on Oct. 16.
