Drayton Valley RCMP Report: October 1 – October 8

October 1

1:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Thanks to the assistance of the town Peace Officer it was discovered that a licence plate was stolen off a Ford Explorer near the town bakery. The investigation is ongoing.

5:30 PM – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Drayton Valley RCMP received a call that a possible stolen quad was under a tarp in the back yard of a property in the area. Members attended, but could not see if it was the quad. Once members dug a little further they found the quad in question was recovered that morning near Rocky Mountain House.

6:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported that her licence plate was stolen overnight. There was a lot of confusion when this was called in as police dealt with her husband’s truck near the bakery. Turned out the thieves took her plate and replaced it on her vehicle. The correct plate was added to police database as stolen. Investigation is ongoing.

9:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Missing Person – A 13-year-old had not returned at the agreed-upon time. There was a concern for his safety and police were called. While police were attempting to call the complainant, the 13-year-old returned home. Police were thankful he was safe.

October 2

1:37 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – While patrolling in the area police encountered a male who was very familiar to Drayton Valley RCMP. He was not fully clothed and was shadow boxing in the alley. Members found him to be highly intoxicated. After trying to convince him to go home the male refused and was taken to the detachment to sober up. He was released when sober.

6:19 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Alberta Ambulance called RCMP requesting assistance with an intoxicated male near the shell station. When police arrived the male became cooperative and was transported to the hospital. The member also attended the hospital but the male remained cooperative.

11:40 am– Drayton Valley – 50 St – A table saw (minus the saw) was located by a pedestrian who said the table must have been dropped there between 4 am to 6 am. Police retrieved the saw but there were no serial numbers or distinguishing markings to identify the owner. No match to any thefts. Table was placed in lost and found.

11:57 am – Drayton Valley – 42 Street – Complainant advised they had returned home after 2 days to find their back doorknobs to their residence were tampered with and the keys wouldn’t fit into the locks.

14:01 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 500 – Abandoned vehicle was found just off highway 22. Vehicle was familiar to police. No registration and no insurance on the vehicle. The vehicle looked abandoned and was towed to DV Towing. The previous owner was contacted.

2:56 pm – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Complainant reporting their son found 2 counterfeit $100 bills.

5:02 pm – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Complainant reporting 2 cows running loose along the highway. Member patrolled the area, cows were not located.

6:47 pm – Violet Grove – Complainant called to report a suspicious vehicle. Red Van. Members attended and patrolled the area. Vehicle located, no occupants.

7:25 pm – Brazeau County – RR 55 – Complainant reporting 8 cows on the road. Member patrolled the area, cows located, and put back into the fenced pasture.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 38 Street – Residential panic alarm from residence. Members attended. Owner doing renovations and accidentally hit the button.

8:22 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment regarding custody issue.

8:49 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Single vehicle collision – Several vehicles had stopped on the side of the road for a vehicle that had travelled into the ditch at a high rate of speed. Police were able to determine that the driver was intoxicated. Due to the driver’s injuries an ambulance was called. Police needed to use the rarely used blood demand which required people to have blood drawn from a technician at the hospital.

9:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Disturbance – Police responded to a noise complaint at a hotel on 50 Street. A male is heard arguing and kicking at a door. When police arrived the male had fled. Police patrolled the area with negative results. There was no further danger to the public.

10:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Residential panic alarm received. Member attended with fire department. Apartment is vacant. No signs of forced entry. No issues.

11: 03 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Threats – A lone male was in 7-11 when he got into an argument with the store employee. The male appeared to be intoxicated or high. The male told the employee that he would meet him outside to fight. The male left before police arrived. Police believe they know the identity of the suspect but no charges will be laid.

11:59 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting a possible break and enter to their garage. Door is open and is usually locked. Member attended. Garage door ajar, no signs of forced entry. Door had been left open.

October 3

9:46 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reporting a break and enter overnight to the water plant. Sea can and building were broken into. Lock was cut off and the door left open. Copper wire stolen.

12:03 pm – Parkland County – 759 Hwy – Police responded to the area near Tomahawk for a vehicle being stuck in a field. No one was supposed to be on the property at that time. Police suspected the vehicle was a stolen truck. However, on arrival RCMP found out that the driver of the truck was known to the neighbour and that he was just trying to take a short cut. No charges were laid.

2:39 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle loaded with copper wire. Red Ford Explorer. Female driver and male passenger. Member patrolled the area, vehicle not located.

4:33 pm – Violet Grove – Complainant reporting a white 4 door Dodge is in the neighbour’s yard and the shed is open.

5:44 pm – Drayton Valley – St. Anthony’s Playground – Complainant reporting vandalism at the school. Fire was set at the school causing damage to the rubber matting on the playground and a panel on the playground structure.

7:09 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a single-vehicle accident. Red Explorer flew off the road. Male driver. Member attended. Driver advised they had swerved to avoid a truck that had pulled out in front of them.

7:34 pm – Brazeau County – Eagle Point Provincial Park – Gunshots heard. Members attended and patrolled the area, no one located.

7:53 pm – Violet Grove – Complainant reporting a green Jeep with an ATV driving behind with no lights. Member patrolled the area, vehicles not located.

8:13 pm – Violet Grove – Member in area observed individual wanted on warrant from Edmonton.

9:11 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a white Ford pulling a trailer and flashing their high beams. Vehicle is tailgating and almost sideswiped the complainant. When the complainant turned off the highway, the vehicle pulled in front of them and slammed on their brakes to block them.

October 4

12:41 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting a loud party with people yelling. Members attended, light noise heard from inside. Requested to keep it down.

2:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a 30-day suspension for alcohol. Vehicle towed.

10:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting they had received threatening messages.

11:40 am – Drayton Valley – Northview Crescent – Complainant reporting they found a bicycle in their yard.

2:16 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting a female is intoxicated and is pushing a stroller with a baby in it. Member attended area and made patrols. Inquiries were made with negative results. No babies located or females matching the description.

7:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 39 Street – Complainant reporting an extended cab Chevrolet truck is racing around the cul de sac. Member attended area, vehicle had left prior to arrival.

8:25 om – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting a dispute. Male and female are loud and arguing. Members attended and located known male and female. Male advised he is trying to get female to leave. Member provided a courtesy ride to female.

October 5

1:58 am – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Complainant reporting an alarm. Member attended and made extensive patrols, no one located. No damage.

9:29 am – Brazeau County – RR 65 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle sometime overnight. Dually tire tracks were observed in their driveway near their residence.

10:08 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting the super mailbox was broken into. Canada Post advised.

10:20 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant advised they went to the hospital on Friday and wanted to complain about how the nurse took their band-aid off.

10:37 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reports having received threats from an ex in Quebec. Members attended, no threats.

12:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Commercial alarm received. Members attended and noted back door unlocked during lunch break.

2:25 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting 2 black cows on the road. Members attended and conducted patrols, no cows located.

2:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – 911 hangup received. Ongoing issue as you are required to dial 9 to call out.

3:21 PM – Drayton Valley – Report of a female in a white hoodie carrying an ax entered a classroom, then went over the fence. There were no injuries. Female was located. Suffering from some mental health issues.

3:38 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. A white Chevrolet half-ton with a canopy was observed driving slowly by their residence. 2 occupants. Member attended and located the vehicle, however no occupants. Vehicle towed.

5:56 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Report of an alarm received. Members attended and spoke with the property rep who advised they had set off the alarm accidentally.

10:26 pm – Lodgepole – Request for members to conduct a wellbeing check on a male. Members attended location, male not there. Subsequent checks show male had gone to the hospital as not feeling well.

11:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant reporting suspicious male on a motorcycle. Red and silver Yamaha. Driver wiped out and is trying to start the bike. Male has blonde hair and is wearing a grey and black biking jacket, jeans, and runners. Members located bike. No issues, not stolen.

October 6

1:11 am – Parkland County – Complainant reporting ongoing dispute with neighbour. Numerous complaints received regarding both parties.

3:46 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Commercial alarm. Members attended, building secure, patrols made in area.

11:54 am – Drayton Valley – Provincial Building – Complainant reporting a male was hiding in the ceiling and dropped down to get crackers from the kitchen. Member attended and located known male. Building manager felt charges would be inappropriate under the circumstances.

12:58 pm – Drayton Valley – 55B Avenue – Complainant reporting an attempted break and enter to their residence by known males. Males left in a white 4 door Ford truck. Matter is still under investigation.

2:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Complainant reporting a hit and run to their 1998 Toyota Tacoma while parked in the parking lot. Damage to the front passenger side bumper.

4:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant requesting members attended to keep the peace while they gather their belongings. Member attended, no incident occurred.

5:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting known male may be back in the provincial building again.

7:20 PM – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting vandalism in their room.

7:41 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting a white Ford towing a cargo trailer has no lights on the truck. Member patrolled the area, however vehicle not located.

8:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Complainant reporting a male on a bicycle swerved into a vehicle and almost hit it. Members patrolled area and located known male who was arrested on outstanding warrants from Drayton Valley and Edmonton.

9:41 pm – Rocky Rapids. – Report of a Domestic assault with a weapon received. Members attended, male barricaded himself in residence with firearms. Emergency Response Team called out. Male subsequently came out without further incident and was arrested.

9:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Complainant reporting a single-vehicle rollover with no injuries. Complainant advised they just rolled their black and grey 2012 Ford F-150. Vehicle is in the ditch. Stated they reached to get something and overcorrected.

October 7

5:28 am – Brazeau County – RR 82 – Complainant reporting a possible intoxicated driver in a brown Ford one-ton truck. Vehicle is driving very slowly and is all over the road.

6:42 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting unwanted male sleeping in the vestibule of the post office.

7:36 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 493 – Residential Panic alarm received. Owner advised they hit the button by accident. No emergency.

8:36 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Request to assist peace officer at the Omniplex. 2 people have locked themselves in the bathroom. Members attended and located a female who was intoxicated by drugs. Female provided with a courtesy ride home.

12:10 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial road – Complainant calling requesting assistance with an unwanted guest who is not answering the door. Guest was to have checked out and is overdue. Members attended and spoke with the male who advised they had lost track of time.

1:02 pm – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Request to assist CPO for a vehicle that fled a traffic stop. CPO attempted to stop a dark grey Kia 4 door and the vehicle took off on them.

1:13 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting they are concerned over the welfare of a female. Members attended and spoke with the female who advised they would go to the hospital.

2:27 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting person has been bringing in their vehicle to get the bumper fixed. Person has ripped the bumper off themselves and is blaming complainant for bad work.

4:01 pm – Drayton Valley – Thrift Shop – Complainant reporting an unwanted female making rude gestures and swearing. Female is bothering other patrons. Member attended, known female located walking away from thrift shop. Female advised they were swearing because their shoulder hurt.

6:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant reporting several males attacking their neighbour. Neighbour has been sprayed with pepper spray. Members attended, matter is still under investigation.

8:01 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reporting suspicious activity. Someone brought a quad into the park and parked it in an empty lot. People are now moving around with flashlights. Member attended and located the quad which had been reported stolen from Fox Creek on September 22.

9:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting they heard gunshots. Member made patrols and located male who had been shooting an airsoft gun at cans on the fence.

October 8

1:40 am – Drayton Valley – Derrick Lounge – Complainant reporting 6 intoxicated people just left. Stated they were taking a cab but left in a red truck. Member patrolled area, not located.
