United Way Central Alberta has granted more than $867,000 to vulnerable community members since the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Those funds, notes the organization, came through the Government of Canada and United Way Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF).

Locally, 25 organizations have been funded to support 32 programs which needed to be adapted to deliver frontline services during COVID-19.

“COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations in our region and across Canada,” said Brett Speight, executive director, UWCA. “We are grateful for the support from the federal government to help our local communities recover and persist through this pandemic.”
