Alberta moves past 12,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19

Alberta is now reporting 1,036 active cases of COVID-19, the same as a day ago.

The province confirmed 84 new cases, putting the total number of cases to date over 12,000.

Of those, 10,796 people have recovered. However, one more person has died bringing that total to 221. There are 48 people hospitalized and 13 in intensive care.

Red Deer is still reporting 10 active cases and 58 recoveries.

Alberta Health has also removed the outbreak at the Waskasoo Kiwanis Towers, which was declared July 24, from its official listing.

There remains an outbreak at Red Deer Regional Hospital, also declared July 24. Alberta Health last reported three active cases at that location.

Active cases in Central Zone went from 88 on Thursday to 81 on Friday. Four people are in hospital, and zero are in intensive care. There have been six deaths.

In the last 24 hours, Alberta also moved past the 800,000 mark for tests completed. Just under 653,000 individual Albertans have been tested.
