Search for man who fell into river in Banff National Park scaled down
LAKE LOUISE — Officials say they are scaling back the search for a 23-year-old man from India who is presumed dead after falling into the North Saskatchewan River in Banff National Park.
Dwight Bourdin of Parks Canada says the man was hiking along the Glacier Lake trail on Saturday with two other people.
He says the man stopped for photos beside the river when he fell in and was swept away.
Bourdin says the other two hikers ran alongside the river, but lost track of the man about three metres downstream.
