Local author/illustrator team receives international recognition
When author and illustrator team Bee L. Hall and Tad Ames of The B Nest Studios created their first book “What Bee will you Bee?” they never dreamed it would be a finalist in an international book contest.
The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the largest not for profit international award for indie authors and independent publishers. The book is a finalist in the Children’s Picture Book Category (0-5 years) with 6 other indie books from around the world. The Next Generation Indie Book Awards are judged by leaders of the indie book publishing industry, including many with long careers at major publishing houses. Their love of a great read and experience in the publishing arena identify books deserving a wider audience.
As big supporters of the movement to “Support Local,” The B Nest Studios duo wrote, illustrated, self-published and printed every element of this whimsical story right here in Alberta. The vivid 32 pages of watercolor illustrations combine with the melodic prose making this book an adventure to be opened again and again. Since the release of the book in Summer of 2019, they have been sharing their message “BEE YOU” with children ages 0-100 at events, workshops and schools across Alberta.
In addition, proceeds from the book are continuously donated to the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. This organization works to protect and aid children and families impacted by child abuse. To find out more about the important work the CACAC is doing visit their website.
