A handful of local high school grads will soon be receiving a boost to their post-secondary endeavours.

Five Grade 12 students from École Secondaire Notre Dame High School and St. Joseph High School will each be receiving $500 from the Red Deer Regional Catholic Education Foundation to put towards their post-secondary education. These students are Zachary Jurak, Julianna Panteluk, Gloria Shi, Isabelle Cormier and Vanessa Webster.

“Supporting our graduating students with scholarships is a way of showing our appreciation for the hard work, dedication and volunteering that these individuals have done through their years in the division,” said Chair, Heather Lewchuk of the Red Deer Regional Catholic Education Foundation, in a press release. “This is a way of saying, ‘thank-you’ for making our school communities the success that they are. By supporting their post-secondary education with scholarships, it is an investment in not only their future, but also where they will continue to work, volunteer and serve.”

For the past 11 years, the Red Deer Regional Catholic Education Foundation has been supporting graduating students and their start to post-secondary education.

It is part of the Foundation’s mission to assist students in the development of their leadership skills, self-confidence and community service opportunities.
