Red Deer RCMP lay drugs, firearms charges against Sylvan Lake man
A 33-year-old man from Sylvan Lake faces numerous possession and firearms related charges after being arrested in east Red Deer.
Police say in a release that it was shortly after midnight on June 18 when the suspect’s vehicle was spotted at the East Hill Shopping Centre after it had fled from officers the day before.
The male driver tried fleeing on foot when police arrived but was arrested. RCMP say he was found to be in possession of a loaded shotgun, ammunition and illicit drugs (methamphetamine and cocaine) for the purposes of trafficking.
A Red Deer RCMP member sustained what are described as non-life threatening injuries during the pursuit and was taken to hospital for treatment. The male suspect was not injured.
