Charges stayed for Red Deer County woman accused of killing husband

Jun 2, 2020 | 1:07 PM

The case for a Red Deer County woman accused of killing her husband has ended with a stay of proceedings.

Robin Berresford, 37, was charged in relation to the death of Matthew Berresford, who was 36 at the time of his death on Feb. 27, 2019.

That’s when Blackfalds and Red Deer RCMP responded to a disturbance at the couple’s home in Balmoral Heights and arrived to find Matthew dead inside.

Following a preliminary hearing in October, Robin Berresford was ordered to stand trial on the lesser count of manslaughter with a firearm after originally being charged with first-degree murder.
