‘Virtual’ Respect Day event on Friday

May 28, 2020 | 1:11 PM

As they celebrate their 35th anniversary the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC) is hosting a virtual edition of Respect Day on Friday.

The organization typically celebrates by hosting festivities at City Hall Park to the highlight the importance of creating a culture of respect in order to combat sexual violence.

This year’s virtual event in light of the COVID-19 pandemic aims to do the same.

“Virtual Respect Day will have information, entertainment, prizes, games and more,” the centre says on its Facebook page.

The CASASC is asking for other local non-profits to join in by making a 2-5-minute video about their service and staff members and to send it to them to be shared Friday.

“We are going to run this year’s respect day on Facebook with live events going on and posts being made throughout the day on the event page,” says CASASC. “We are hoping your organization will join us on this day to let Red Deerians and the surrounding community know we are here from them, especially in this unknown time.”

More details are available at the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre’s Facebook page.
