Wildrose School Division receives provincial funding for school maintenance projects and approves Spring Budget

May 21, 2020 | 1:10 PM

The Wild Rose School Division revealed they have been approved for up to $2,500,000 in Capital Maintenance and Renewal Funding from the provincial government for its school projects, with work starting this summer.

The $2.5 million is part of the Alberta government’s recently announced $250 million increase in capital funding to help accelerate important maintenance to existing schools around the province. A full list of projects will be revealed in June and most projects are set to be completed by October.

There will be no Before and After School Care program in Drayton Valley. The school division says after much research and consideration, it was determined at this week’s Board meeting that there is not enough confirmed interest in the program to make it financially viable for the Division to run at this time.

The Wild Rose School Division’s Board of Trustees reviewed and approved the 2020-2021 Spring Budget on May 19. Amendments were made to the budget to include additional funds for unexpected Covid-19 related expenses.
