Tourism Red Deer announces Rene Rondeau as new Executive Director

Tourism Red Deer will soon have a new Executive Director taking the helm of the organization.

Rene Rondeau begins his journey as Executive Director starting on a part-time basis May 15, and full-time starting June 1.

“Rene brings with him many years of strong relationships within the tourism and event industry, and an enthusiasm to grow the experience and collaborations of the region,” Tourism Red Deer says in a release.

Rondeau’s history in Red Deer goes back to his years at RDTV, and currently with the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and rdnewsNOW. He is also the Manager and Producer for the Red Deer Rebels broadcasts and video scoreboard.

“Rene’s fresh ideas and excitement for the region he calls home will help the organization as they support tourism partners across the region climbing out of the COVID 19 crisis and looking to the future of Central Alberta’s tourism markets,” Tourism Red Deer adds.

“I am looking forward to this opportunity. From living and working in Central Alberta for the last 25 years, I have been on the other side of the fence, working with media and promotion. I feel this will be a transition into something I know and love in my own back yard,” says Rondeau. “I have done a lot of work with Tourism Red Deer and their partners in the past, so I know what the members are looking for and have those partnerships in this area.”
