Red Deer Emergency Services: Businesses need to keep entries and exits clear
Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES) reminds local businesses to ensure emergency exits remain clear as many have adjusted their entries and exits with COVID-19 protocols.
Restaurant, food service, retail and assembly businesses are asked to pay special attention to pathways and emergency exits as they reorganize and amend operations to meet new regulations for COVID-19. Pathways and exits must remain clear and fully functional, and cannot be blocked by signage or other structures.
“We understand the enormous stress local businesses are already facing. We made changes to operational processes and have put additional measures in place in our facilities, too, but emergency preparedness is absolutely essential,” said Fire Marshal Tim Kivell. “Businesses need to ensure pathways and exits remain clear.”
All pathways, entrances and exits must remain fully functional at all times, as they are designed to facilitate evacuation in the event of an emergency.
