Central Albertans cleaned up in the 27th annual STARS 2020 Alberta Lottery.

The organization drew its winners on Friday from a location in Calgary, and witnessed by STARS and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis officials.

Jeff Collins of Rimbey won a Calgary show home worth $1.1 million.

Sheldon Mudry of Sylvan Lake won an Edmonton show home worth nearly $928,000.

Jeannette Johnson of Millet won the Lethbridge show home, which is worth $922,000.

Finally, Lillian Kirtley of Stettler won the 50/50, meaning she’s taking home $2.8 million, the largest 50/50 jackpot in the lottery’s history.

“STARS is an integral part of the emergency response system in Alberta and continues to fly during crises such as the pandemic we are currently facing,” said Andrea Robertson, STARS president and CEO. “Please know that our crews remain mission ready and that your support of our lottery directly helps patients in a time of great need. Thank you to everyone who has supported our lottery for the past 27 years, and congratulations to all the winners.”

Mudry, the Sylvan Laker, commented on his lucky day.

“When STARS flies, you know it’s for the worst of the worst,” said Mudry, who buys tickets every year. “The level of care this team provides is just phenomenal. I work in construction, and whether I’m on the highway or on a site, it’s good to know they are there if I ever need them.”

A total of 2,575 prizes were given out through the lottery. A complete list of winners is at StarsLotteryAlberta.ca.
