Mounties seek truck stolen Thursday night at Bower Ponds

Mar 27, 2020 | 6:50 PM

Red Deer RCMP hope the public can be on the lookout for a vehicle stolen Thursday night at Bower Ponds.

Sgt. Ian Ihme says the reported incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. when a man returned to his vehicle from a walk around the ponds.

“We received a report … that while he was sitting in his vehicle, he was approached by a male who had a gun,” says Ihme. “The suspect told him to get out, he complied, and the male took his truck.”

The stolen truck is a 2018 black Dodge Ram with Alberta license plate BRJ4841. It’s believed the victim’s phone, wallet and other belongings were still in the truck when it was taken.

The victim wasn’t hurt. Ihme says police continue to investigate.

According to Ihme, the vehicle the man with the gun got out of is believed to be a 1990s or early 2000s blue Ford Taurus. That vehicle is also being sought by police.

The suspect with the gun was wearing a white baseball cap and white bandana.

Ihme notes that calls of this nature have not increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, and overall calls have gone down.

Anyone with information on this incident or any other can call Red Deer RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
