$16,000 grant supports Family School Enhancement Program in Sylvan Lake

SYLVAN LAKE- École Our Lady of the Rosary School and École Mother Teresa Catholic School will receive $16,000 for their Family School Enhancement Program.

“Our goal through this grant is to build community relationships and strengthen family connections. The money will be allocated to new initiatives, as well as to continuing successful programs run by the schools. We hope to provide knowledge, resources and support through this grant to create a stronger community for Sylvan Lake and within our schools,” said Family School Enhancement Counsellor, Melissa Grant at Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.

One thousand dollars from the grant has been allocated to the backpack initiative at École Our Lady of the Rosary School. The backpacks are designed for families to play games, read explore, build and have conversations together.

“The feedback from families has been good and they have enjoyed to choices of activities that each backpack offers and have said that it has started conversations, quality family time and lots of laughter,” said Teacher Tamara Neilly at École Our Lady of the Rosary School.
