Lethbridge police seize and destroy live mortar rounds

LETHBRIDGE- An explosives disposal unit seized and safely destroyed two live artillery rounds on the weekend.
Police say one 82-millimetre mortar round was discovered Saturday in a garbage can near a supervised consumption site and the other was found in Galt Gardens urban park.
Military explosive ordnance disposal technicians helped police destroy the rounds.
Such mortar rounds can have a blast radius of about 40 metres.
