RCMP searching for second suspect in Caroline bank robbery

Feb 7, 2020 | 3:56 PM

One person has been arrested, with police trying to identify a second suspect following a bank robbery in Caroline this week.

On Feb. 4 at approximately 7:16 a.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to an alarm at a bank in Caroline.

Mounties allege two suspects, a male and female, damaged the bank’s front door and ATM and gained entry inside.

The suspects then fled eastbound in an SUV along Highway 54 before police arrived.

No one was inside the bank at the time of the incident.

Police say the vehicle used in the robbery was located abandoned a short time later near 47 Street in Rocky Mountain House. A search warrant was then executed at a residence where a male suspect was arrested.

Michael Jones, 34, of Rocky Mountain House is charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, and disguise with intent to commit an offence.

RCMP say Jones was released from custody following a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court on Feb. 12.

Mounties says they continue to investigate the incident as the second suspect has not yet been identified.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP are asking the public’s assistance for any information in relation to this incident and the additional female suspect.
