Hurricanes defeat Rebels in annual blood drive
As the month of January has come to an end, so has the annual Hockey Gives Blood Challenge between the Red Deer Rebels and Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Officials with Canadian Blood Services have revealed that Red Deer finished with a total of 455 blood donations in January, 79 of which were brand new donors.
Lethbridge, meanwhile, finished on top with 472 collections, and 61 new donors.
“While we are of course disappointed that Red Deer did not win this year, we are so thankful for and humbled by the 455 donations that have gone on to impact over 1,300 families in our community,” says Erin de Kleer, event coordinator in Red Deer. “That is simply incredible!”
