Volleyball stars named RDC Athletes of the Week

Red Deer College Athletics is proud to announce the Bedford Food Company Athletes of the Week:

Kaylee Domoney – Queens Volleyball
Hometown – Red Deer, AB
Kinesiology General (4th year)

This past weekend, Domoney had another strong outing for Queens Volleyball, breaking the previous team career digs record (890) held by Krista Lougheed (2003-7). The all-star libero recorded 12 digs on Friday, setting a new Queens record with 896. She added five more digs Saturday, bumping her total to 901 as the Queens won both their matches versus Lethbridge on the weekend.

The talented fourth-year has played an integral role helping the RDC Queens (12-2) win their last 12 matches in a row. She also sits fifth in the league with 184 digs this season.

Hometown – Legal, AB
Bachelor of Education Science (1st year)

The six-foot-two outside hitter helped lead the RDC Kings Volleyball team (10-4) to a three set victory over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (25-22, 25-20 and 25-18) this past Friday. Hills led both teams with 12 kills. He added seven digs, one stuff block and one assist, and was named the Collegiate Sports Medicine Kings Player-of-the-Game.

Despite dropping Saturday’s match to the Kodiaks (23-25, 20-25 and 15-25), Hills contributed seven kills, three digs, one assist and one stuff block. In 14 matches, he has a total of 124 kills and 0.241 hitting percentage.

The Bachelor of Education Science student leads the Kings with 2.70 kills per set, ranking him 14th in the league.
