Jan 14, 2020 | 9:25 AM

PONOKA- The Police Advisory Committee (PAC) is inviting citizens to a Public Engagement and Information Night on Monday, January 20 from 6-8 p.m. in Council Chambers on the third floor of the Ponoka Civic Building (5604-50 Street).

The evening will feature:

– A brief presentation explaining the role of the Police Advisory Committee, introducing the members of the committee, and direction on how the public can submit comments and input to the committee for consideration.

– A short slide show by the Ponoka RCMP that explains what happens when the police receive a call for service from a member of the public, and demonstrates how the RCMP follow up on those calls.

– A presentation about Ponoka RCMP policing priorities and an invitation for members of the public to offer input on policing priorities for 2020.

– An opportunity to ask questions and have one-on-one discussions with members of the Ponoka RCMP and the Ponoka Police Advisory Committee.

If you are unable to attend the Public Engagement and Information Night, you can view an information brochure about the committee and complete a Police Advisory Committee questionnaire on the Town website at www.ponoka.ca.

The primary role of the committee is to give local citizens a voice on public safety and crime prevention matters in order to help foster and maintain a safe and secure community in Ponoka.

“We do this by inviting local community input at events like this upcoming Public Engagement and Information Night. We then pass on valid concerns and feedback about public safety or crime prevention issues to our Town representatives and the RCMP member who sit on the advisory committee for their consideration,” explains Brittany Sande, Chairperson of the Police Advisory Committee.
