Town of Blackfalds to rebrand in 2020

Jan 12, 2020 | 11:02 AM

The Town of Blackfalds is going for a fresh look this year, but they insist it’s about more than just a new logo.

During capital budget talks last November, town council approved $35,000 for a branding initiative. They’re now looking to the public for feedback.

“Please be assured that it is much more than simply changing a logo. The purpose of this project has been explained to be one that will engage our business community, volunteer groups and individual citizens with the challenge of making our great town greater,” says Mayor Richard Poole.

“Rebranding is a comprehensive process that creates opportunity for business and economic development, as well as a method of creating excitement for citizens within the community.”

The idea of a rebrand originally came about in Nov. 2018 via the Town’s Economic Development & Tourism Advisory Committee. A report provided to council in Jan. 2019 recommended further research on such a project.

“(Re)Branding Blackfalds will give us the opportunity to share a consistent story that portrays the personality of our community,” says Heather Buelow, committee chair. “Having unified messaging will create strong community identity and civic pride for residents, foster a prosperous business climate, and attract visitors and new investment to town.”

The first step of the rebranding process is to have Brand Development Committee conduct logo and tagline testing. The public is invited to complete a survey between January 20-27 at www.blackfalds.com, or anyone interested can request an individual interview by contacting communications@blackfalds.com or 403-885-6246.
