Dec 20, 2019 | 4:40 PM

Earl Dreeshen, Member of Parliament for Red Deer – Mountain View has been named as the Deputy Shadow Minister for Industry and Economic Development.

Dreeshen has previously served as the Vice Chair for the House of Commons Industry, Science and Technology Committee. In that role he introduced a study on rural and remote broadband. Dreeshen hopes to continue working with industries toward economic development opportunities that make rural communities viable and enable them to flourish.

“Previously serving as Deputy Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food, Dreeshen will continue his work alongside his colleagues on trade issues and defending our various industries against outside actors that benefit from creating barriers for Canadian products,” reads a media release.

“The challenges and opportunities facing Canadian industries and the Canadian economy are different today than they have been at any point in our history,” Dreeshen continued. “It is important that we look at fostering an environment that allows for economic development instead of creating red tape and other disincentives to our domestic industries.”
