Wanted man arrested after rural resident calls Ponoka RCMP

A call about suspicious activity in the rural area led to the Ponoka RCMP recovering a stolen vehicle, arresting a male wanted on warrants and pursuing new charges.

Just after 10 p.m. on Dec. 6, Ponoka RCMP received a call from a homeowner that he saw people on his property in a vehicle. The males were seen leaving on foot southbound on Township Road 432.

Shortly after 10:20 p.m., Mounties located the males and took them into custody without incident. The trio was in the process of abandoning the vehicle, which police say was previously reported stolen and had suffered extensive damage from a collision.

One of the men was charged while the other two were released without charges.

Domanick Keith Patrick Fraynn is facing 12 charges including obstructing a peace officer, fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking (two counts), and six charges of possession of stolen property. F

Police say Fraynn was in possession of several stolen items including a driver’s licence, wallet and debit card. He’d also been wanted on arrest warrants for previous weapons and a fail to appear charges.

Fraynn appeared in court in Wetaskiwin on Dec. 9. He remains in custody and is next scheduled for court on Dec. 17.

“We appreciate that the alert property owner recognized a suspicious situation and called the RCMP” says Corporal Chad Pushie of Ponoka RCMP. “We rely on community members to provide us information about what’s happening within their neighbourhood.”
