RCMP lay new charges in recent string of ATM thefts

HANNA- More charges have been laid against 26-year-old Rick Ernest Atzler following a pursuit on November 24 that covered Hanna, Oyen, and Consort RCMP jurisdictions.

Atzler is facing charges of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, break and enter and commit theft and arson out of Oyen.

RCMP in Coronation and Provost have charged him with several offences including mischief under $5,000 , flight from police, possession of a prohibited firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and 14 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Mounties have also charged a woman believed to be involved in a business break-in and ATM theft in Hanna.

Ashlyn Brett Tomolty, 33, was spotted in Consort along with 37-year-old Darwyn Ronald Beaudry.

When police attempted to make an arrest, both suspects fled in a vehicle which was running in the parking lot of a local gas station.

That vehicle was later located abandoned and after a short foot chase, both Tomolty and Beaudry were taken into custody.

At the time of her arrest, Tomolty was wanted on arrest warrants out of Barrhead.

She now faces charges including, possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest, possession of break-in instruments, and possession for the purpose of trafficking, laid by Consort RCMP.

Beaudry was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Canmore at the time of his arrest.

He is now facing 14 other criminal charges including, possession of property obtained by crime, assaulting a police officer, assault with a weapon, flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
