Dec 4, 2019 | 3:15 PM

The modernization of St. Patrick’s Community School in Red Deer is now complete.

Officials with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools say Phase 3 has wrapped up, with students, teachers and staff now enjoying their new surroundings.

Phase 3 of the modernization consisted of updating classrooms, redesigning the office area, front entrance, staff lunchroom, printer room and adding new lockers to the hallways.

Officials say the modernization started in July 2018 and was divided into three phases.

Phase 1 built the new addition to the school, while Phase 2 saw the modernization of the north side of the school, including the gymnasium area which was turned over in August 2019.

Phase 3 entailed the modernization of the south side of the school, including the front office and entrance.

“On Monday, we welcomed our students back to our entire school with much buzz and excitement in the air,” says Terri Lynn Mundorf, principal at St. Patrick’s Community School. “We would like to thank our parents, students and teachers for their support and patience throughout this process. We have a beautiful school that feels brand new with spacious learning environments for all of our students.”

“We would also like to thank Group 2 Architecture for their creative design and Chandos Construction Ltd. for being such great partners to work with throughout our modernization,” adds Mundorf. “We are looking forward to our rededication ceremony on February 4, 2020, and all of our new furniture arriving.”
