The Red Deer Rebels made a change to their roster Thursday night by acquiring 17-year-old forward Ben King from the Swift Current Broncos.

In exchange, the Broncos received 17-year old forwards Jordan Borysiuk and Cohner Saleski from the Rebels, along with 15-year old prospect Parker Lalonde and a third round selection in the 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft – a pick originally belonging to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

King, a native of Vernon, BC, is in his second season in the WHL. The 6’2” 190-pound forward has played 71 games, scoring 9 goals and 25 assists for 34 points. He was a first round pick of the Broncos in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

Borysiuk played in three games with the Rebels, including two this season, and had one goal. Saleski recorded one assist in five games this season.

Of note, both selections made by the Broncos in the first round of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft (Joel Sexsmith 9th overall and King 13th) are now with the Rebels.

The Rebels also now have six players on their roster who were selected in the first round of the bantam draft – Dawson Barteaux in 2015, Sexsmith, King and Kyle Masters in 2017, and Jayden Grubbe and Kyle Masters in 2018.

The Rebels conclude their eastern road trip with games Friday night in Saskatoon and Saturday in Prince Albert. (6 p.m. game times on 106.7 THE DRIVE)
