Rocky RCMP Report: Oct. 10-17

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of October 10-17, 2019.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

October 10

3:37 P.M. – Theft of copper wire from an oilfield site in Clearwater County

5:15 P.M. – Assault reported on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve.

10:34 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on Secondary Highway 756 after it was observed driving erratically. The disqualified adult male driver, who was on conditions, was subsequently arrested for Impaired Driving. He provided breath samples well over twice the legal limit and has been charged. After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, he was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at a later date.

October 11

8:40 A.M. – Complaint of an intoxicated male showing up at a neighbour’s residence & threatening the home owner. Police attended and arrested the adult male who was released by a JP on $1000 no cash recognizance with conditions.

9:41 A.M. – Report of a stolen credit card used at various locations in Red Deer after it had been taken from the Leslieville ball diamonds.

10:26 A.M. – Copper wire theft from various lease sites.

10:36 A.M. – Complaint of a vehicle passing a school bus with red lights flashing on Highway 22 northbound.

1:57 P.M. – Attempted theft of vehicle while parked at High School parking lot. The vehicle was broken into and a wallet was stolen. A “club” on the steering wheel prevented the vehicle from being stolen.

7:23 P.M. – Complaint of an assault and disturbance at a residence in Rocky. Police attended but the culprit fled prior to police arrival. Warrants are requested for his arrest.

October 12

00:32 A.M. – Complaint of road rage after a group of youths were observed smoking while fueling up at a Rocky gas station and then throwing the cigarette on the ground. After a comment was made, the complainant was followed around town by the youth who were yelling out the window for them to pull over.

October 13

6:28 A.M. – Theft of a white 2014 GMC Sierra stolen from in front of a residence in Rocky. The complainant’s debit card was used in the Sylvan Lake area. The vehicle was recovered 2 days later in Rocky. Under investigation.

8:22 A.M. – Suspicious FORD truck reported abandoned on Hwy #22 & Twp Rd 40-3, Clearwater County. A travel trailer was also abandoned a short distance away. Police attended and towed the items for further examination. Under investigation.

1:51 P.M. – Shoplifters reported at a Rocky grocery store. Suspects fled prior to police arrival but surveillance footage is available for examination.

October 14

3:54 A.M. – Window reported smashed out of a vehicle at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve.

7:36 A.M. – Theft of a grey 2006 Chevrolet Equinox from a residence in Rocky. The keys were left in the running vehicle. It was last seen at the Leslieville store a few hours later where 2 males & a female attempted to shoplift. Under investigation

8:59 P.M. – Attempted theft of a vehicle while parked at residence in Condor.
