Ponoka RCMP arrest three in identity and credit card fraud

PONOKA- On October 8, RCMP responded to a local hotel for a complaint of an attempted credit card fraud.

A man and a woman were attempting to use false identification and invalid credit card information to pay for a hotel room.

When the suspects were alerted that police had been called both fled from the front counter.

An investigation revealed that five suspects had been occupying three different hotel rooms.

Three were taken into custody, two suspects remain at large.

RCMP executed a search warrant on the hotel rooms and located computers, printers, card laminating equipment, external hard drives, USB thumb drives, photography equipment, along with credit card and identification information.

All of these items were being used to create fake identification and credit cards.

James MacNeil, 36, of Red Deer faces 16 charges including forgery, possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of credit card data and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Karmeryne Boyd, 19, of Red Deer is facing 13 charges including forgery, possession of an instrument for use in forging credit cards, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

Brendyn Beaulieu, 28, of Edmonton is facing 14 similar charges.

RCMP continue to investigate, including identifying the two remaining suspects.
