Winter storm watch for southern Alberta

EDMONTON- The calendar says Autumn, but the forecast for some parts of Alberta is winter.

Environment Canada has issued winter storm watches for parts of southern Alberta and frost advisories in the north as icy weather moves in.

The frost advisories are for the areas of Fort McMurray-Fort MacKay and the High Level region.

In the south, a winter storm watch is in effect for Cardston-Fort Macleod-Magrath, Crowsnest Pass-Pincher Creek-Waterton Lakes, Kananaskis-Canmore and Okotoks-High River-Claresholm.

The forecast suggests up to 30 centimetres of snow could fall by Monday — up to 50 centimetres in higher terrain in the southwest.
