Input Needed

Town of Ponoka seeking input on economic development strategy

Sep 17, 2019 | 12:19 PM

The Town of Ponoka has begun work on an Economic Development Strategy that will set out a clear action plan to promote increased economic growth in Ponoka.

The strategy will identify priorities and opportunities for Ponoka to diversify its current economy, strengthen partnerships in and around the community, and provide an environment where businesses can thrive and experience new growth.

An important part of this project is community input. The Town is hosting a series of workshops to invite input.

The workshops will focus on economic and business opportunities for the community. Two of the workshops will be targeted to members of the business community and a third one will invite input from the public at large.

Dates and times for the workshops are listed below:

Wednesday, September 18 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Ponoka Civic Building, third floor foyer (for general community input)

Thursday, September 19 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Ponoka Civic Building, third floor foyer (for business community input)

Friday, September 20 from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Ponoka Civic Building, third floor foyer (for business community input)

Input gathered at the workshops will help to shape Ponoka’s Economic Development Strategy.

The Town has retained MDB Insight, an economic development consulting firm, to assist with the project.

MDB Insight will work with municipal staff and the Town of Ponoka Economic Development Board, which will serve as the project steering committee, as it creates a new Economic Development Strategy for Ponoka over the coming months.

MDB Insight works with communities, businesses, and organizations across North America and around the world.
