Drayton Valley RCMP Report: Aug. 29-Sept. 5

August 29

8:13 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting theft of licence plate.

10:16 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting fraudulent use of their credit card in Red Deer and Airdrie.

12:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting someone attempted to steal their truck overnight. Damage to the key lock and hole drilled in ignition.

7:18 pm – Drayton Valley – Canadian Tire Store – Complainant reporting a disturbance. Male had stolen a back pack from the store. Employees had person outside. Member attended, 40-year-old Peter Bilan arrested for theft and held for a bail hearing.

7:24 pm – Brazeau county – Hwy 39 – Complainant reporting a break and enter to the Brazeau County yard.

August 30

3:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Urbanata – Complainant reporting an assault. Members attended and spoke with complainant. Matter still under investigation.

5:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a fraud. Check was deposited twice. Male arrested and charged.

August 31

1:55 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a dangerous driver in a blue Ford half ton travelling at approximately 130 km/hr in construction zone. Passing numerous vehicles and running traffic lights. Member patrolled area, vehicle not located.

3:25 pm – Brazeau County – Brazeau Dam – Complainant reporting the possible dumping of sewage into the dam on the south side at the emergency side of the spillway. White travel trailer with 30 foot sewer hose from the trailer to the water.

September 1

2:36 am – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Member on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Traffic stop conducted after member observed vehicle go through red light. Driver intoxicated and arrested for impaired driving.

10:15 am – Cynthia – Complainant reporting a small black Toyota Corolla is driving around lease sites. Member was enroute when they were advised that the vehicle had been located. Occupants were “chicken hunting”

12:20 pm – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Complainant reporting a vehicle on a lease site. Member attended, vehicle had been reported stolen on August 17 from Galaxy Cinemas in Red Deer.

1:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant reporting chainsaw stolen from back of camper. Husqvarna. Member attended, matter still under investigation

7:19 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 491 – Complainant reporting they caught a male breaking into their property and attempted to steal their truck. Complainant confronted suspect who took off walking. Member attended location, 49-year-old Bryan Marsland was located with the assistance of the Police Dog Services. Marsland was arrested and charged with break and enter to residence along with an outstanding Canada Wide Warrant for parole violation. Marsland was held for a hearing and subsequently remanded.

10:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting female on drugs is walking around with a sign and pulling leaves off trees. Members attended and located known female.

September 2

9:02 am – Drayton Valley – Carleton East Apartments – Complainant called to remove unwanted intoxicated male who is on their deck screaming into their windows. Members attended and located known male. Male left, however two other persons in the apartment were arrested on breach charges.

4:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – Complainant reporting an unwanted female. Member attended and located female who was advised they needed to leave.

5:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Unwanted female from previous complaint is across the street yelling at complainant. Members attended.

September 3

2:34 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting unwanted female is causing a disturbance. Members attended, female left when requested to, however returned shortly after. Female arrested and charged.

5:48 pm – Drayton Valley – WestWinds Motor Inn – Complainant reporting a male is walking around in the trees with a machete, not wearing a shirt. Members attended and patrols conducted, male was cutting down shrubs in tree line.

6:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Complainant reporting neighbours dog has been barking for 3 days. Neighbour is out of town for work. Member contacted animal control who advised they have received several complaints. Owner will be contacted and given 24 hours to find a solution.

September 4

9:47 am – Drayton Valley – Members called to assist with person who needed to be taken to Edmonton for mental health assessment.

10:12 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Complainant reporting theft of wire. Suspects crawled under the fence.

7:01 pm – Lodgepole – Members were requested to assist Brazeau County CPO with a motorcycle that had crashed. Driver was known to members and was arrested for possession of stolen property. Motorcycle had been stolen from Red Deer in July of 2017.

7:23 pm – Drayton Valley – Dollarama – Complainant reporting finding drug paraphernalia located between the two buildings. Member attended and located a needle which was disposed of in a sharps container.

September 5

2:59 am – Drayton Valley – Landmark Cinemas – Alarm received at front doors to theater, upon arrival front door windows were broken and the ATM from inside stolen. Matter is still under investigation.
