Aug 23, 2019 | 8:06 AM

Warm up your pitching arm and come out and ‘dunk’ local celebrities at Ponoka’s Day in the Park summer festival on Friday, August 23 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Lion’s Centennial Park!

The dunk tank will be a popular feature at Day in the Park. You can join the fun for only $2 per ball or three balls for $5.

All proceeds will be donated to the Ponoka Arts, Recreation and Cultural Society (PARCS), a non-profit organization that raises funds to support future recreation facilities in Ponoka, including a new field house.

Some of the celebrities who have volunteered to sit in the dunk tank on Friday include Rick Bonnett, Town of Ponoka Mayor, Albert Flootman, Town of Ponoka CAO, Brett Mauthe, Servus Credit Union Manager, Gary Colyn, Sommer Home Hardware Building Centre Manager and Rob McArthur, Homechurch Pastor.

Day in the Park will be a fun-filled day packed with free family-friendly activities. In addition to the dunk tank, there will be numerous children’s activities including bouncy castles, bubble soccer, face painting and various games from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

There will also be a free community BBQ from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., free live entertainment with local band Tap 9 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and a free outdoor movie – How to Train Your Dragon – starting at 8:30 p.m.

The night will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks show over the river valley in the Downtown area at 10:30 pm.

See you in the park!
