Celebrate summer at Ponoka’s 5th Annual Day in the Park summer festival on Friday, August 23 in Lions Centennial Park.

The festival is an end-of-summer celebration packed with fun-filled activities for the whole family!

Join us in the park from 1:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. for the following FREE family-friendly activities:

Bouncy castles, bubble soccer, face painting and games in the park from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Dunk Tank – Warm up your pitcher’s arm for our Dunk Tank Community Challenge from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Come and dunk the mayor and other local community representatives.

A free community BBQ – Served by community volunteers and volunteers with the Home Hardware Building Centre from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Free live entertainment – Local band Tap 9 will have you dancing and tapping your toes! The band members have performed in thousands of live concerts across North America and have recorded on many albums. The band came together in 2010 to explore their own original style, which is self-described as modern day classic rock, sometimes with a country twist. Tap 9 will hit the stage from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Outdoor Movie – ‘How to Train your Dragon’ will be the featured film at this year’s Day in the Park event. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy free popcorn. The movie will start at 8:30 p.m.

FIREWORKS! – We’ll finish off the night with a spectacular fireworks show over the River Valley in the Downtown area at 10:30 p.m.

“Day in the Park is a fantastic summer celebration for the citizens of Ponoka to enjoy,” says Rick Bonnett, mayor for the Town of Ponoka. “It also attracts many people from other communities. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.”

“We’ll be offering a whole new slate of children’s games,” he continues. “There will more bouncy castles than ever, and the free community BBQ along with live music on the main stage, followed by the free outdoor movie and fireworks are always a big hit. I would like to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers who help make the annual Day in the Park festival a huge success every year.”

This year’s sponsors (to date) are: Servus Credit Union, Ponoka County, Family Meats Ltd., Ponoka Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), Capitol Theatre, Town of Ponoka, Home Hardware Building Centre, Barry Buss Chain and Construction.
