Kelsey Lalor is taking her talents south of the border.

The star Red Deer athlete has committed to enrolling at Boise State where she will play softball for the Broncos starting this fall.

A member of Canada’s Women’s Baseball National Team since 2013, Lalor has competed at three Women’s Baseball World Cups (2014, 2016, 2018), and helped lead Canada to a silver medal at the 2015 Pan-Am Games in Toronto.

At the 2018 Women’s Baseball World Cup in Melbourne, Fla., Lalor was selected to the tournament’s All-World Team after helping Canada secure the bronze medal.

Lalor played for the women’s basketball team at the University of Saskatchewan for the past three seasons as the Huskies captured Canada West titles in 2016-17 and 2018-19. She appeared in 28 games in 2018-19, averaging 5.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the field.

At Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School, Lalor was the varsity MVP for three different programs (women’s basketball, volleyball, track and field), in addition to claiming three-straight High School Female Athlete of the Year honors (2014-16).

“Kelsey is a pure athlete with great range, arm strength, and power. She will compete for multiple positions but primarily will look to spend time on the infield and provide power to the middle of the lineup,” said Boise State softball head coach Maggie Huffaker.
