Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain.

This thunderstorm began near Rocky Mountain House and is moving towards the east at between 45-55 km/h.

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • City of Red Deer
  • Lacombe Co. near Eckville
  • Lacombe Co. near Lacombe Blackfalds and Bentley
  • Red Deer Co. near Penhold Innisfail and Bowden
  • Red Deer Co. near Pine Lake
  • Red Deer Co. near Spruce View and Red Lodge Prov. Park
  • Red Deer Co. near Sylvan Lake and Stephansson House

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.
