Mounties looking into fire near St. Patrick’s Community School

A fire Tuesday night near St. Patrick’s Community School may have been intentionally set.

Fire Safety Codes Officer Julian Hedrich with Red Deer Emergency Services confirms the blaze broke out around 11 p.m. Tuesday on the exterior of a construction trailer near the basketball courts on the northwest side of the school.

“There were four porta-potties (all destroyed), but it didn’t breach into the trailer,” Hedrich says, adding that a lifting device was also damaged, but it’s too early to put an estimate on costs.

There was no damage to the school itself and no one was hurt.
