100 Women Who Care have opted to put their latest quarterly donations towards Red Deer’s Street Ties Youth Outreach program, which is run by Vantage Community Services.

The group of 120 women met Monday night and heard presentations on behalf of three organizations.

Former city councillor Lynne Mulder was there to promote Street Ties, which will now benefit from the typical thousands of dollars 100 Women raises.

“This ‘under the radar’ organization provides a welcoming environment for marginalized and homeless youth,” 100 Women states in a release.

“In addition to counselling and educational supports, the drop-in centre provides food, clothing, access to showers, and laundry facilities. The kindness offered aims to mitigate the risks of street lifestyle, with the ultimate goal for better lives for our most vulnerable youth.”

Other nominated organizations included The Lending Cupboard and Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre.

In addition, it was announced that Linda Wilson, an original member of 100 Women Who Care in Red Deer, has launched a 100 Women group in Sylvan Lake. It met for the first time on April 8 and donated over $7000 to Sylvan Lake Community Partners.

100 Women Red Deer meet next on Sept. 16.
