Apr 18, 2019 | 3:15 PM

The grand prize draw was made Wednesday in the first-ever Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre Dream Home Lottery.

Jonathon, Sherri and Ethan are the proud new owners of the $1.5 million dream home on Larratt Close in Red Deer, built by Abbey Platinum Master Built.

Lottery spokesperson Alyssa Truant describes community support for the inaugural lottery as immense.

“We really focused on spreading the word out to those local communities, especially in those last four weeks and we really saw results from that as well,” she exclaims. “Not even just speaking of numbers but in the awareness is truly where we’ve been able to see how much has been put out there since running this lottery.”

In the Lottery’s four-week extension that began in March, Truant says community awareness of the advocacy centre seemed to spread.

“I think we were probably close to seeing on average about 15-20 cases a week,” says Truant. “We have been so busy here at the Centre and I think it really speaks to the awareness that we’ve been able to put out there into the community about who we are and the services we provide. In the end, that’s why we’re doing this entire lottery is to help the children out there and we’ve been able to see that.”

Truant acknowledges the tremendous support the CACAC Dream Home Lottery has also received from sponsors, donors and volunteers.

“What we’ve heard from people is how amazing the home is and everyone was so excited about the prizes that were available,” adds Truant. “I think we are a pretty lucky organization to have been able to receive all that we did.”

Truant says members of the CACAC Dream Home Lottery are continuing their efforts in contacting all prize winners but notes the winners of the grand prize will receives the keys to their new home during a special ceremony on April 26.

She adds fundraising totals from the lottery are hoped to be known by then as well.
