Eckville man faces firearms and drug charges

SHERWOOD PARK- On April 11 Strathcona County RCMP conducted a high risk traffic stop as a result of a 911 complaint of a disturbance involving a firearm.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., Mounties attended a local hotel parking lot where an altercation had taken place between several people.

It was reported that there was a knife and a firearm involved.

A suspect vehicle departed the area before police arrived, but was located a short distance away and a high risk traffic stop was conducted on the three occupants.

The vehicle was searched and police located a loaded shotgun, a knife, suspected cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

Dylan Knut Tracy Steinbach, 26, of Eckville faces charges including possession and careless use of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, plus 17 additional charges.

Steinbach was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on May 1.

Ashley May Maki, 34, of Edmonton faces seven charges including possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm.

She also appears in court on May 1.

The third suspect was a male youth and he was released without charges.
