HEADED TO HAWAII

Football Alberta has announced its U17 Team Alberta team for the Pacific Challenge this summer in Hawaii.

Three Red Deer players have made the team – linebackers Joel DeMale from Hunting Hills and Chase Pack from Lindsay Thurber, and defensive lineman Kyle Rees from Hunting Hills.

The U17 players players were a part of the selection for Team Alberta U18 that will represent Alberta this summer at the Football Canada Cup. Around 400 players started the process in January and now 80 players are selected out of this past weekend’s camp in Calgary for either the U18 or U17 team.

The U17 team is a development squad of those players who were close to making this year’s U18 team and born in 2003 which means they will get another shot at the U18 team next year.

The team will play a scrimmage vs. Team Saskatchewan U17 in Red Deer on Sunday, June 16 then gather again in August from the 4th to the 12th for the Pacific Challenge which will feature three scrimmages vs. local high schools on the island of Maui, HI, USA.
