Jason Stephan will represent the United Conservative Party in Red Deer-South during the upcoming provincial election.

Stephan, a local tax lawyer and president of the Red Deer Taxpayers’ Association, beat out Gary Davidson, Bruce Buruma, Adele Poratto and Norman Wiebe.

In a statement, party leader Jason Kenney stated the following:

“Today, more than 1,200 United Conservative members in Red Deer-South cast ballots for their preferred candidate for the next election from amongst five great contestants.

“I would like to congratulate Jason Stephan on winning an incredibly competitive race.”

Stephan, a husband and father of three, has become well-known over his years with the RDTA for calling on city council to not raise property taxes during budget time.

Ryan McDougall (Alberta Party) and Barb Miller (incumbent-NDP) are the other confirmed candidates in Red Deer-South.

Adriana LaGrange has been named the UCP’s candidate in Red Deer-North.
