Canadian figure skaters Phan and Gogolev in top 10 at world juniors

ZAGREB, Croatia — Canadians Joseph Phan and Stephen Gogolev are sixth and 10th, respectively, after the men’s short program at the world junior figure championships.
Phan, a 17-year-old from Laval, Que., finished fourth at last year’s world juniors.
Toronto’s Gogolev, 14, is making his world junior debut.
“It was a bit shaky in the beginning but I thought it was good,” said Gogolev. “I tried to approach it as a normal competition. I think I need to settle down a bit more for the free so I can be calmer.”
