Clearview Public Schools and CUPE help local food banks

Dec 17, 2018 | 5:07 PM

Clearview Public Schools and staff are providing $1,300 towards ensuring families have enough to eat over the holiday season.

On December 12, 2018 the Clearview Public Schools Board of Trustees and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4292 (CUPE) presented donation cheques to Betty Birch from the Stettler Food Bank. This holiday season Clearview will see contributions to the Big Valley Food Bank, Castor Food Bank and Coronation Food Bank.

The Board of Trustees for Clearview Public Schools uses this opportunity during the holiday season to provide a donation to the local food banks on behalf of Clearview staff, in lieu of staff receiving a gift.  In past years, Clearview staff have shown appreciation for the Board providing this help to families in need during this time of year. A donation of $1,000 from Clearview is divided between three local food banks and with CUPE contributing and additional $300 to be split between the Stettler Food Bank and the Stettler Christmas Hamper.

Betty Birch from the Stettler Food Bank shared, “We have a great community, and we see that all of the time by all of the donations that we receive that allows us to keep our Food Bank stocked up so that no families have to go hungry.  Food Bank usage in Stettler and other areas continues to increase. The holidays can be a stressful enough time without worrying if you can keep your family fed, and donations such as the ones made by Clearview and their staff go a long way to helping ease that stress for families in need.”
