Inhumane death of coyote being investigated

GRANDE PRAIRIE- RCMP and Fish and Wildlife officers are investigating a video of what Mounties describe as “the inhumane death of a wild animal.”

RCMP got a report Sunday that the video had been posted online.

According to a spokesman for Alberta Justice and the Solicitor General, the incident happened near Sexsmith and it involved a coyote.

The video shows the coyote being beaten and killed by snowmobilers.

CBC News reports that the video shows someone swinging a coyote by its hind legs, bashing it’s head against a snowmobile and stuffing it’s bloody body into a rack on the back of the machine.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers are helping with the investigation.

Government spokesman Jason van Rassel says the individuals in the video have been identified but it’s too early to speculate on possible charges.
