Six new sponsors announced for 2019 Canada Winter Games

“Bower Place is proud to be a recipient of a gold sponsorship with the 2019 Canada Winter Games,” said Carlene McDonald, Marketing Director for Bower Place. “The unique partnership we have created together will bring a sense of excitement and community to the centre and we are looking forward to the events coming in the months ahead.”

Bamboo Shoots Video Production was announced as a bronze sponsor of the 2019 Games and according to owner Wally Stuart, is thrilled to be involved.

“The Canada Games are an important part of Canadian’s lives and we’re happy to be a part of the Red Deer Games,” said Stuart.

Clearview Market Dental was also announced as a bronze sponsor.

“As a family-oriented practice, we are thrilled to partner with the 2019 Games,” said Dr. Nar Gill, owner of Clearview Market Dental. “We are excited to celebrate with our clients and fellow Red Deerians in 2019.”

Joining the bronze level of sponsorship for the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer is Production World which will look after the audio and visual delivery of the Games Festival.

“Production World is proud to be a sponsorship partner of the 2019 Winter Games,” said Jon Beckett, President, Production World. “We look forward to showcasing our expertise as this world-class event comes to central Alberta.”

Finally, Red Deer’s Troubled Monk Brewery has also joined the team as a bronze level sponsor and according to co-founder Charlie Bredo, is thrilled to be a part of the national event which will leave a lasting legacy.

“One of the most exciting things about the Games coming to Red Deer is the opportunity to build community,” said Bredo. “Community is built by everyday people rallying around a common goal to achieve something special.”

Lyn Radford, Chair, 2019 Canada Winter Games Host Society, says the announcement of these six new sponsors is very significant in ensuring the success of the Games.

“If we don’t have sponsors of the likes that have just come on today, we would really have to scale back our operations of the Games and that is one thing that we don’t want to do,” states Radford. “Alberta has a terrific reputation for hosting great events over and above. We think about the Scotties, we think about the Memorial Cup, there’s a pretty big standard there and if we want to maintain that standard, we need to have the engagement of these sponsors, not only for the financial assistance but also for the teams that they bring to the table for us.”

In terms of volunteer recruitment for the Games, Radford says over 3,000 have signed up to help so far, with about 2,500 more still needed.

“We would like to do a really good push on our Francophones because we have a standard that we need to have at least 10 per cent of our volunteers who need to be French speaking,” she explains. “But it’s time to get involved. I mean really, there’s so many opportunities, so get out and volunteer.”

Tuesday night’s sponsorship announcements were made from the 2019 Canada Winter Games new Volunteer Distribution Centre which will now be based out of the former Sears Location at Bower Place.

The Volunteer Distribution Centre was formerly at the Ing & McKee Insurance building on Bremner Avenue.
