Targeted shooting in downtown Red Deer over the weekend

A man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a targeted shooting in Red Deer over the weekend.

RCMP say the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26 at an apartment in the 5000 block of 47 Avenue downtown.

They responded and discovered that a man had been shot with a small calibre firearm.

Police have identified the two male suspects and verified that they are known to the victim. One of the suspects was also injured during the incident, sustaining a non-life-threatening knife wound.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Monday morning, RCMP conducted a search warrant at an involved residence in the Michener Hill area with support from RCMP Forensic Identification Unit. Police also seized three vehicles believed to be involved in the incident.

RCMP continue to investigate and say that arrests and charges are pending.
