WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE – Lethbridge Mayor calls fellow councillor “moron” and “lazy” in leaked emails
LETHBRIDGE – “You clearly don’t have the intellectual capacity to do the job as councillor competently” – Mayor Chris Spearman to Councillor Joe Mauro.
That is just one line from an e-mail handed out not only to the public prior to Monday’s Lethbridge city council Meeting, but also to reporters. The letter, part of a chain of emails involving Mayor Chris Spearman, Councillor Joe Mauro and ARCHES involves a complaint from a citizen whose vehicle was broken into while taking groceries from their truck into their home last April.
According to the e-mails, when the citizen checked their vehicle, some change and other small items were taken, but two syringes, along with a tourniquet were left behind.
Police, then ARCHES were both called, and a member of an ARCHES clean-up crew removed the needles, which were later discovered to be in a plastic ziploc bag, unused, and capped. The citizen wrote an e-mail to the city describing concern over drug contamination, potential Hepatitis exposure, needle removal protocol and training for citizens, should a member of the public come across needles.
